Date: 2021-04-16 01:22 (UTC)For Yuri's route, I got two bad ends and then stopped playing for a bit, but I'm going to beat it eventually! I really like Eri in this route, and I feel so bad for her.
Overall, I'm very intrigued by the metaplot (I've been screencapping tidbits of foreshadowing dialogue left and right). The romances aren't really doing it for me.
Thinking about this game in combination with the Il icon above is making me wonder what Il would think about Nameless, given the whole "dolls learning to love" thing.

Date: 2021-04-26 12:53 (UTC)Oh wow yeah he would really like Nameless and want ALL the dolls to be happy.
If you're playing all the bad ends, be aware that Tei's are very dark and ruin the character for some people (not me, though, haha >.>)

Date: 2021-04-17 01:24 (UTC)If you haven't checked Our Life out I still seriously recommend you do - I've never yet seen anything that so perfectly captures that cosy childhood friends feeling from the inside, actually experiencing all of those memories as they happen as you get to see the relationship build up through it all! And because the customisation is so extreme, it really does feel like Cove would be your friend, whoever you are IRL! It's just the most ridiculously sweet and comfy and nostalgic game imaginable! <3
Apart from that, I've been preparing recently for a very important annual event - my Enstars best boy's birthday! Last year I wrote massive 20k fic love letter to him, which took ages hahaha but I was really happy with! Unfortunately this year I've been much less well off mental health-wise and haven't been able to write much - for MONTHS I've been trying to write a longfic and even got the first chapter down but I just haven't been able to get back into it... But, I did have another half-complete fic involving him that I could get back to, so I managed to finish it off and now it's all ready for posting on Tuesday! It's... actually a pretty angsty fic so it definitely feels less appropriate for a birthday but WELP, the fic was written because I was soooooo unsatisfied with how he was written in a particular story and wanted to give him the narrative he deserved, so it's just more of a meta-level gift, lol. I'll take a picture of the shrine as well ofc, though I really don't have much added since last year... Well I didn't exactly have much incentive to refine my itabag given the lack of conventions :') And shipping to Australia was so bad some things had to wait like six months... but, whatever. It's still a good shrine! Either way I'm really looking forward to all the new fanart that will go up! Twitter was so FUN last year, just Souma everywhere!~~
The final note to it all is that I've played less outright otoge because I've gotten really back into Fire Emblem. I finished Three Houses and while I actually kinda didn't enjoy it as much as I expected, it reminded me how much I love the franchise, so now I'm playing Fire Emblem Heroes (it is SO fun to take all my faves and slowly mold them into terrifying killing machines <3) and Fire Emblem 4 Genealogy of the Holy War, in no small part to two totally independent people telling me 'if you love Souma you'll definitely like Seliph' and y'know, they were 100% correct!!! Seliph is my sweet best boy I would give the world to <33 BUT welp even something like Three Houses is only marginally otome to begin with and FE4 definitely isn't haha so I'll stop here!

Date: 2021-04-26 12:40 (UTC)Our Life: Beginnings and Always is a funny game for me: I mostly didn't enjoy playing it, but found it really interesting, since it takes a gentle, personalised approach to narrative fiction I haven't seen in any other games. It didn't work for me for reasons I can't quite articulate , I need more plot or it's too different to my own childhood or something, but I can respect what it's doing intellectually, and am glad the people it does work for can have fun with it.
I hope you and your best boy had a nice birthday :)

Date: 2021-04-30 08:51 (UTC)(Did I miss such a post? I kept thinking "it's about time, isn't it?")
I loved it so I kinda went on a bit.
I reccomend watching the trailer btw
In it you play Dell, a girl who lost her memories three years before the start of the story, and has been working for a detective agency since then. After a very attractive actor Ain hires the agency to find his stolen memories, Dell and co. have to dive into the illegal memory market, and while learning things about almost everyone in her life's pasts, Dell has to consider if she wants her own memories back.
It doesn't exactly start off on the strongest foot, with an 'eco-terrorist' group attacking this demonstration Dell is investigating at, but even that aspect is later revealed to have some depth to it later on. Also, the MC is really the focus of the story, to the point that sometimes the "love intersts" do things for Dell that are more typical of the MC doing for the LI.
Also, instead of the LIs routes being core to the story, they are more little epilouges you can unlock if you make enough choices they like in game and/or spam them with gifts you aquire outside the game. For at least one of them it's impossible to get enough "affection points" in game even if you make all the choices he likes.
It's an FTP game that is RIDICULOUSLY easy to play for free, the game is so generous with its premium currency in dailies and ads that I wound up having over 100,000 gems left over when I finished the game and unlocked everything it had to offer. The option to watch ads for energy, which you need to play chapters, is a little hidden, but using it you can go over the maximum energy you can story and so bank up energy to read the whole thing in big chunks. And it's a long one with later chapters costing more than earlier chapters. Once you've read a chapter, you can re-read it at your will for free. Though there's really no need to except for about three chapters.
The Graduation DLC... is a step down in writing and translation I feel. And it introduces a massive plothole.
Finally, if you leave it alone for 24 hours it gives you notifications about the LIs missing you, and the first one in the rotation: "This guy named Ain, he missed you so much he died!" always made me laugh.
CWs: parantal abuse, manipulation, cult, violence, guns, suicidal ideation and apocalyptic thinking.

Date: 2021-05-01 04:29 (UTC)OH NO I TOTALLY FORGOT. Thank you so much for the reminder and suggestion! I used they/them pronouns for you in the post, let me know if you prefer something else.
The game looks interesting and pretty. I remember someone (presumably not you because you only just played it) reccing this to me a while ago, I've burned out a bit on phone games but will definitely try and keep it in mind for if I feel like playing one again.
