So I am sorry to have to say that I have realised I am experiencing Gender Issues(*) that mean it's best for me to step back from otome as a genre for a while. Which includes stuff like making the game of the month/catch-up posts.

I'm happy to remain on as a caretaker mod deleting spam etc, but is anyone else interested joining as a mod who actually posts about otome? You wouldn't have to follow my system or commit to anything long term, if you post a couple of times then get bored that's still a plus for everyone. You wouldn't even have to become a mod, I just know people sometimes feel braver about posting when it's official.

If not, then I guess the community just gets very quiet, though other people are as always welcome to post when the mood strikes and I will probably still post anything especially interesting I happen to stumble across and reply to comments when I have something to say.

Either way, thank you for being a great community, I've really enjoyed my time as mod and discussing these games with you all. And I'm sure I will still play and enjoy otome sometimes in the future, and maybe even post about it here, that's just not where my Gender Journey is taking me right now.

(*)My gender hasn't actually changed, I've been genderfluid the whole time, but for whatever reason how I relate to gender in fiction has changed pretty dramatically over the last 6 months or so.

Current plans:

1) Catch up posts. I have my reminder set up to do it monthly but am pondering making it more frequent.
2) Occasional "request a rec" posts. I think the weekly posts on the old comm was too frequent, so will start with monthly and see how they do.
3) Random otome news/reviews etc I happen to encounter/write.
4) Sit back and admire the pretty graphics [personal profile] chrry is organising

Does that sound ok? Anyone have suggestions or preferences?

Also! What should this community's policy be on linking downloads/videos etc of games?

My natural instinct is to say:
1) Links to fan-made patches that require a purchased game are fine.
2) No links to downloads for games that are legally available.
3) If a game isn't legally available any more, then download links are ok, but the post should be locked just in case.
4) Videos of game playthroughs are ok, unless the game creator has explicitly said it's not.

Does that seem reasonable?

Hello and welcome to [community profile] otome_games, a community for discussing story based romance games aimed at women.

Current Rules and Guidelines:
  1. The technical definition of "otome" is any story based game aimed at women. While most otome games are romances involving a female main character and male love interests, we're open to discussion of games that don't fit that mould as long as they're otome-ish.
  2. We're open to reviews, discussion posts, meta, fanworks, news, and pretty much anything else related to otome games. Including your own!
  3. It's fine to dislike or criticise a character or game, but be respectful towards those who like it. No attacking others for their ships or route choices.
  4. No links to downloads for games that are legally available. Posts with download links to abandoned games etc should be locked.
  5. Please be respectful of other members in general! Debate is fine, but personal attacks are not allowed. Please avoid use of sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, ablist and other derogatory language. Otome fans are a diverse group, let's make this a pleasant space for everyone.

If you have any problems or suggestions, please let us know! You can comment here or contact a mod.
