Also, a reminder to post to the introduction post if you like.

dating your grumpy boss who is also your step-brother and secret roomate kinda way.

I really truly did not expect where this sentence ended up going. That's so...much. :D

I finished Yang's route in Piofiore (finally!). I liked it, I don't know if I would want to play it again and Yang is borderline "hitting squicks" for me, but it definitely did something different. I wrote it up on Dreamwidth (https://scytale.dreamwidth.org/22869.html).

And I started Gilbert's route and liked it a lot. It's very sweet and I love Liliana in that route, how curious she is about guns, how quickly she decides he's a friend and decides to be loyal to him, and how it actually feels like their values align. But I lost steam because I got a bad end. Not a Bad End, just a bad end, and I thought I was doing so well! D: I'm increasingly curious about the secret character and the worldbuilding though.

Piofiore has been occupying enough fannish headspace that I wrote Lili/Orlok fluff for it. I don't think I'm out of steam writing for it yet.

I'd like to finish the game before next check-in and start working on my backlog of PC games.

Haha, I enjoy the "what does the writer want me to pick??" part of gameplay, and even getting indignant over losing. :P Though I also have a habit of starting yandere routes on Friday nights to unwind, and...I should really stop that, that has never worked out.

I also don't usually go playing for bad ends, so if I don't experience them first, I don't experience them at all.

I find that a good bad end can turn a mediocre route into a good route for me, and some of the most memorable routes to me are the ones with great bad ends that I experienced first (...and then the good end kind of fell flat for me, Amnesia's Ikki -- just break up with him, MC, date literally anyone else! -- and Nightshade's Kuroyuki and Cinderella Phenomenon's Waltz).

I do eventually give up and use a walkthrough for some of the harder routes, because I'm not made of time and there's only so many bad endings I can reread before I want to just throw the console against a wall and find the secret option to punch the guy in the face. :P

Haha, I love how Liliana is interested in his guns while he initially feels shy talking about it with her. It's super cute!

Also, your Lili/Orlok story was super cute~! I loved the part where he kissed her since it was in the play directions, but he was actually being serious. A part of me wishes they had more moments like this in the actual game, lol.

Yes, I love Liliana a lot in Gil's route! I finished the route, and they are both very charming.

And thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the fic. I also wished for more happy scenes -- the short story wasn't enough. :)

I saw the 1926 previews for the fandisc on Youtube and I'm hopeful for more canon development for them! They definitely have a lot more relationship-developing to do.

Currently, I'm still working my way through Cafe Enchante. The music is beautiful and the characters are fantastic. The story became a lot deeper (and darker) than I expected based on the common route, but the camaraderie the whole group shares with each other is endearing and heartwarming. It's shaping up to becoming another one of my favorite otome games.

I've also been playing another otome game series called Diabolik Lovers. I've started playing the one that has been ported over to the Switch, which contains the first two games released for the series. I'm still playing the first release/game, and boy, I have never felt so conflicted about an otome game. I love the voice acting, the artwork, the character design, and the music. But I am not a fan for some of the characters' personalities and their actions are, at best, questionable and head scratching to me ^^;

Ooh, Cafe Enchante is on my list, so I would be very intrigued to hear your reaction! What routes have you played so far.

Diabolik Lovers always looked so consistently pretty! I've heard enough about it to be curious.

Ooh, nice! At the moment, I've gotten through Il's route, the angel guy. And I think his route was fantastic since it was funny, emotional, and heartfelt, making it a highly enjoyable route. I'm currently working on Canus's route, and it's turning into another really good route. But I'll definitely write up my full thoughts on it when I finish the game!

Yes, agreed! I never got tired of staring at the art with all of the pretty boys XD So far, I feel this game has lots of fanservice, but it also has an intriguing story and, to the game's credit, none of the routes feel repetitive. However, the game has darker themes/elements with death, murder, and abuse (both mental and physical) being the biggest ones. So, it may not be everyone's cup of tea ^^; But I still like it despite feeling conflicted about it, lol.

No problem~! That's awesome to hear! I like the way Il is so adorably passionate for otome games, lol. I'd love to read your thoughts on it as you play through it or finish it~ ^^
