Backstage Pass Review
2019-08-02 05:32Backstage Pass is an enjoyable dating/life sim about a makeup artist, Sian, in her first year of college. You have to balance school, work, and socialising and there's romantic paths as well as the option to focus more on friendship or her career.
I really liked it! Here's a review I made when I played it.
Some things it does notably well:
-sweet romances and friendship paths, as well as the option to forgo romance and concentrate on the MC's career
-everyone feels like a real character, not just a collection of tropes, and the portrayal of the entertainment industry feels very authentic
-multiple queer characters, including a f/f path, a bisexual male LI, and an asexual male LI
-plays around with gender roles, involves a lot of the MC making the LIs pretty :D
-understated ethnic diversity
-good English voice acting?? IT EXISTS
Less good things:
-The stat raising gets QUITE repetitive and fiddly, I quickly resorted to a walkthrough.
-not quite as swoonily iddy as more tropey romance games
