Cinderella Phenomenon is a free game released in 2017. It seems to be fairly popular in the otome community, especially among those who don't like the ~usual otome heroine~ (I mean, when I see people talking about the game that's basically what all of them usually mention. I haven't played myself or tried to look for more in depth discussions about it to avoid spoilers tho)
This is the playing order the creators recommend for the build-up of plot: Rod > Karma > Rumpel > Fritz > Waltz. If you you want to choose another order, keep in mind that Fritz and Waltz are locked until you clear 2 of the other routes.
The devs have been working on a fandisk and it looks like it'll be finally released at the end of the year (November 27, 2020).
Anyone has played? Tell us about it♥

Date: 2020-05-02 00:57 (UTC)So I have played this game and didn't like it. The heroine is kind of a stuck up jerk at the start, and then learns to be a better person, which could be a fun arc... if everyone else wasn't WAY too mean about it.
They're so smug and condescending! Even when a lot of her problems are clearly a result of trauma and bad upbringing, and deserve at least SOME sympathy. It feels aimed at people who dislike flawed female characters and enjoy seeing them suffer which...is not what I'm there for in an otome game.
BUT it is different to the usual, it's well made for what it is, and a lot of people like it. Afaict if you can deal with the premise the romances are fun?
The review I wrote when I played it:
A free fantasy m/f dating sim. Beautifully made, moderately well written, VERY unfortunate plot. The main character is a Cruel Princess who gets cursed to become poor and have her princess-ness forgotten until she can do 3 good deeds. Which could be really interesting but
(a) She's not...actually...a super bad person? Unfriendly and callous, yes, and she should be less of a jerk, especially given her position of power. But she's not actively malicious, and we learn early on that she's been traumatised and abused.
(b) The "good" people "helping" her become a better person (who the narrative is clearly on the side of) do so by a combination of mockery and weary obligated politeness. Many of them are in a position to see why she is the way she is, but instead of trying to relate to her and help her find a way to be good without letting go of her coping mechanisms/basic personality etc it's just this repeated dynamic where she is given the opportunity to be Nice, is rude, and they either mock her or sigh sadly. A friend played to the end and said the moral never got less unfortunate.

Date: 2020-05-03 10:26 (UTC)I've mostly just seen people rec it for being competently made and free, which I can't argue with. But I have my own games I resent because everyone recs them as Not Being Like Other Otome, so I entirely sympathise.

I might pick this up, especially for the low price of free.
