Game of the Month for March: Frozen Essence

The game of the month for March is Frozen Essence! This is a free game for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

In a world balanced by essence, Mina is unsealed from her crystal prison. Without a memory of her own, she follows the guidance from the oracle and stays protected by the bodyguards from those that fear her dark power. With the guidance and protection from the oracle within her realm, her journey begins.

This is an otome visual novel, an interactive story with choices that affect the ending. You start off inside your realm with a few bodyguards to protect you. You may find love, or it'll end differently. Each path's story differs greatly depending on the path you land on.

I haven't played it, but icecheetah says:

Well, it was such a long time ago I can't really remember anything standing out as bad... aside from there's one guy's route that you have to raise the "affection" of the one non mc major female character in order to access. Just let me romance her! Or not have a romance route! The girl is someone you meet along with the other LIs while the dude you get instead of the girl's route comes later.

According to the tv tropes page, one of the routes has a flashback to a time someone tried to rape the mc and she killed them. So people might need that warning.

I do remember the 'bad' endings being pretty worth it. There's even one where the MC basically becomes a dark goddess of a cult, if you play her as being manipulative and power hungry in one route. Her personality really changes depending on how you play the game.

I don't think the sort of people who can only do one route per game would like this one. They'd be missing out on a good chunk of overall lore and their one route would probably not be the one that reveals the most about MC's past, that route is a bit hidden.

Have you played it, or any other games by Unbroken Hours? I'd never heard of them but they have a few games released, I'll have to go check them out!
