Upcoming Otome Releases, and Otome on the Switch

Bakumatsu Renka Shinsengumi for Switch, PC launches June 17 This is a port of an older mobile game, the protagonist is the the first female member of the Shinsengumi.

Nekopara: Catboys Paradise announced for PC, iOS, and Android. This is an April Fools joke that became real, from a company that usually makes catgirl games.

Also Otome Games in Nintendo Switch (English) is very thorough and has a bunch of games I hadn't heard of, including some upcoming games.

I'm excited for the Shinsengumi game! It'll be interesting seeing how the portrayals differ from Hakuouki.

I may not play the catboys game (I'm mostly here for tragedy and angst, and it might be a bit too light-hearted for me), but I might keep following it.

I didn't recognise any of the other actors but they've got the Hakuoki actor for Hijikata playing Saito, and the one for Okita playing Shinpachi, so that'll be something.

Okita's VA is Kent from Amnesia! Otherwise I'm not seeing any games I've played for the rest of them.

I read the detailed character descriptions on https://blerdyotome.com/2021/01/20/otome-game-bakumatsu-renka-shinsengumi-jinchuu-houkoku-no-shi-announced-for-switch-and-steam/ and I'm pretty interested in their Sanan and Yamazaki (Hakuoki Yamazaki didn't interest me at all.)

I choose to believe Teruhime/MC is the secret route, it sounds amazing and I ship it already based on the synopsis and one screenshot (maybe).

I'm very curious about how much the MC is going to be loyal to the Shinsengumi vs. the Aizu domain specifically (or Teruhime). And it sounds like the MC is going to be there at the start of the Shinsengumi, which will be interesting!

Ooh, I'm a sucker for crossdressing. And yeah sounds like it's covering a similar period to Hakuoki Reimeiroku, which was interesting from what I saw of the anime.

My problem with non-Hakuoki Shinsengumi media is I'm doomed to spend the whole time wishing there were vampires. Though if it did have femslash that would certainly be something.

Huh, I didn't know about Hakuouki Reimeiroku, I thought all the anime were covering the games, I'll have to check that out.

And yeah on the vampires! I feel like I'm really attached to Saito and Hijikata as well. The only other adaptation I read didn't live up to that, and I need Saito to think of himself as a weapon foremost and Hijikata to be rude and sad. :p

Hakuouki Reimeiroku is based on a game! The Hakuouki Reimeiroku game is a prequel about a whole other protagonist, a dude with platonic manly friendship routes with the Shinsengumi.
